Subclass 188 C / 888 C Significant Investor Visa (SIV)

This is a permanent residency visa pathway involving a minimum four-year provisional residency visa. This visa is aimed at applicants able to invest at least AUD 5 million of lawfully obtained funds in Australia in accordance with a prescribed complying investment framework. Applicants are required to invest at least AUD 1 million with an Australian venture capital or private equity fund manager (or managers) and at least AUD 1.5 million with an Australian equity fund manager investing in emerging Australian companies (predominantly companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) with a market capitalisation of less than AUD 500 million). The remaining funds of up to AUD 2.5 million may be invested in balancing investments (which can include listed and unlisted non-residential property funds, infrastructure funds, blue chip shares and corporate bonds). Grant of permanent residency requires that the applicant hold the AUD 5 million in complying investments for a minimum of three years (during which time they must remain in Australia for at least 40 days per year on average before applying for permanent residency).
